Hockliffe School AssociationAll parents are automatically members of the Hockliffe School Association, (H.S.A.), which is a registered charity.
Our key objective is simply to raise funds to meet the needs of the children at the school. We are a friendly bunch who meets every few months to discuss fund raising opportunities within the school.
At Hockliffe we feel very strongly that the HSA should be a fun way of giving time to help the school without the pressures of attending every meeting or every event. In fact, we are happy to have some members that can only help organise one event per year, such as the Christmas Fair, and that is just fine by us; we always welcome new faces and fresh ideas!
The core committee for this year are:Chairperson: Mrs K Cox
Secretary: Mrs C Bridger
Treasurer: Mrs S Bolton
Look out for our Newsletter to let you know what is going on, our Notice board is in the playground. Please check this for future events.
We look forward to meeting each and every one of you, whether you are supporting the school at an event, or at the next HSA meeting.
The festive season at Hockliffe Lower School has certainly been a busy one! We kicked off the celebrations with our Shopping & Pamper Evening in mid November with lots of local independent businesses offering the opportunity to get a head start on the Christmas shopping; alongside a number of therapists offering relaxing treatments throughout the evening.
This was closely followed by our annual Christmas Fair, and we were delighted to welcome a rather jolly fellow in a red suit to his temporary home in the playground when the Learning Lodge was converted into a fairy lit grotto for the day. The children were able to join in all the fun of the fair indoors including a spot of secret shopping for mum and dad in our Elfridges boutique, before taking a lantern lit elf walk out to the grotto to tell Father Christmas about this year’s wish list.
Another highlight was the Christmas performance of A Christmas Recipe with the children all giving an outstanding performance on stage. Each year we support the school performances with a raffle and refreshments and this year was no different, with mince pies and hot drinks on offer before and after the performances before we announced the lucky winners of our chocolate hampers.
To finish the term we were pleased to invite grandparents and senior members of the local community to join us for Christmas Tea & Carols in the school hall. This was our first event of this kind and it proved a big success with the year 4 children offering plates of cakes and mince pies around whilst the HSA committee served teas, coffees and mulled wine. We were then joined by the children for a Christmas singalong in front of the Christmas tree; including old favourites such as Jingle Bells, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. A wonderful way to finish the year.
We were delighted to support the school panto trip to Milton Keynes Theatre to see Gok Wan and Brian Conley staring in Cinderella - a fantastic afternoon for the children - who certainly got into the spirit of things with the panto fun!
An enormous thank you to everyone who has supported the HSA events throughout 2017, we appreciate your time, all the money we raise goes towards enhancing the education and experiences of our children during their time at the school. We are grateful to all our school families, teachers and members of the local community for all the efforts they have put in to make 2017 a fantastic year! Merry Christmas, we wish you a happy new year and look forward to seeing you all at future events in 2018.
