Welcome to Key Stage 1

This year we have 23 children in Key Stage 1 - 14 in Year 2 and 9 in Year 1. Our teachers are Mr Custance and Mrs Carter. Mr Custance teaches Year 2 in the morning while Mrs Carter teaches Year 1. We are lucky to have teaching assistants to help us with our learning during the day. They are Mrs Herd and Mrs Bateman. Mrs Mulberry helps Mrs Carter teach year 1 in the mornings.

We usually have literacy and numeracy lessons in the morning. We have phonics, grammar or handwriting before our English lessons. In the afternoon Year 1 and 2 take part in cross curricular topics together.

Each term our learning is based on a topic. Here you can see pictures of our main topics for the year:

Each week we have a lesson with Mrs Benger when we are learning how to speak German.

We enjoy our PE lessons and each year we take part in local school tournaments including run for fun and gymnastics.

Each Friday we are set tasks in our learning logs to complete at home. We can choose how we complete each piece of work. We love to share our work from home and sometimes we exhibit our models and artwork to the rest of the school.

We try to read to an adult every day at home or at school. We have a super school library and we are allowed to take a new book home every week.
