Characteristics of Effective learning
Children join the reception Year in the September following their 4th birthday. In the spring and summer terms we are joined by children in their Nursery Year.  Our class teacher is Mrs Carter and we are supported by Mrs Mulberry. In the mornings we are taught Literacy and Maths alongside children in Year 1. We use Willow Room as our base for learning and Silver Birch Room for group work meaning we can work on our activities in our own year groups.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which covers
We have sessions each day where we all learn together and other sessions in small groups. Sometimes we work individually with an adult.  We learn a lot through playing inside the classroom and outside.  Play helps us to develop our understanding and to explore new learning.  When we are playing it shows the adults in the class what we are able to do independently and what our next steps in learning are.
